Keep Warm and Stylish with These 5 Layers
Hand on heart, layering is winter’s best style friend. When you’re going from outdoors to indoors, it’s essential that the clothes we wear keep us toasty without hindering our personal style. So without further delay, here are five layering items that will let you go from street to bar with maximum fashion credentials and confidence.
A versatile base layer
It makes logical sense that the item you’d want to invest in the most is your base layer. It's a perfect match to wear underneath jumpers during the winter or on its own in the summer. Speaking from personal experience (ahem), base layers really can make or break your comfort levels. Stock up on quality pieces from high street brands or splash out on an investment piece, like a Moschino T-shirt.
Leather Ponte trousers
High-waisted leather trousers will protect your midriff from chilly winds while the supple leather material will keep your legs warm. This pair, in particular, is a contemporary take on a signature Reiss silhouette that features a ponte back panel for comfort and wearability. Available in classic black, they’ll go with practically anything/everything and will soon become your new favourite pair of trousers.
A fringed knit
It’s not a winter wardrobe without a cosy jumper and fringing is a wardrobe staple that’s showing no signs of slowing down. A bunch of fashion houses went crazy for tassels in their SS 2019 shows which means that the high street has followed.
To me, the perfect layering jumper is chunky enough to keep you warm without bulking out a fitted coat or jacket. Hot tip: wear jumpers over your dungaree dress or underneath for added style points!
An oversized scarf
Ever since Lenny Kravitz wore an oversized scarf, it's been a staple addition in most of high street winter lines. But in all honesty, what could keep you warmer than a voluminous, soft, wool scarf in an array of colours?
A belted trench coat
My mom's love for trench coats has passed on to me... I think it's an ideal top layer for any outfit! A long trench coat will see you through many cold seasons to come so be sure to find the perfect one for you and your body. And not to mention that the classic belted trench design never goes out of fashion. Whether you prefer wearing it undone or all done up, it's a surefire way to stay warm and look stylish at the same time. If you prefer the #fashionblogger look then consider wearing it draped over your shoulders.
…and that’s it from me today :)
